  2. *detected* intentional homicide rate. Well, it probably truly is lower anyway. But “getting away with murder” can apply in a literal sense. Here in Ireland for [historical reasons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Troubles), back in the day quite a lot of “disappearances” were probably actually murders.
