>Minister for Finance Michael McGrath has confirmed that the planned hike in excise duty will go ahead in September as it is already “locked in”.
>He said the decision had already been made by Government and legislated for by the Oireachtas.
>However, he said it should take some time to reach consumers.
>”In the same way as when excise was reduced, it took a while to feed through to the prices at the forecourts, the same should apply when excise is increased.”
Yeah right. The costs will be added instantly by the petrol stations, if not beforehand.

When are they going to stop robbing everyone with universal social charge tax
You’d swear it was their money. If you’re going to raise taxes, you should be able to provide some sort of justification other than “the decision had already been made”. RTE has given us a glimpse into why we pay huge sums in taxes and don’t seem to have the services to match – is there going to be reviews of anywhere else in the public service to see how our money is being spent?
Price will be over €2 again before we know it.
We the public, should demand that Ministers start to feel the pinch themselves. No more car allowances or anything along the lines of travel allowances, all public offerings end of story.
The rules made by a shower of cunts that never put a hand in there own pocket, I doubt they even know what their bank account balance is.
