  1. Media and players seemed to conspire to get her out, best of luck to her she did a great job

  2. Horrible way she was treated in the end.

Getting to a world cup and being treated as “superstars” got to some of the players heads, the Irish media then jumped on the Bandwagon to drive the final nail into the coffin and kicked her while she was down.

Thanks for your service Vera, you can hold your head high for what you achieved with limited resources, hopefully you are treated better the next place you go.

  3. It’s what we do – a rogue player thinks they’re better than the manager at the World Cup, causes aggro, manager is sacked, the team never gets to a World Cup ever again.

They won’t realise what they’ve lost until a few years go by and they’re playing absolute shite and getting into zero competitions.

  4. Fucking players getting above themselves.

Back to struggling for a win with you

  5. Not surprised, ever since the bullying accusation from the Athletic article in the States was public it felt like she was weakened.

  6. Will be interesting to get the details of the report but seems a terrible decision. She brought the team on massively and they performed pretty well at the world cup. To get the boot is a real insult. Hope she does well in her next job and that she is appreciated.

  7. Embarrassing, she’ll go on to better things while we’ll struggle to qualify for tournaments

    Thrown under the bus.

  9. Didn’t really do herself any favours, such a cold demeanour. Tactics wise, she seemed stuck in a different era and didn’t trust her squad.

  10. We got a horrific group and you could see quite a few of the players just aren’t at that level, I’m not sure any other manager would have done much better

Would love to know what happened that so many journalists suddenly started implying the players wanted a change. It didn’t seem to be the immediate aftermath of the Athletic article but maybe just took a while to seep out

Have quite a bit of sympathy for her i must say
