The M109 self-propelled howitzer is effectively serving in the 14th Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. It destroys enemy manpower, armored vehicles, and — this is a unique case — even somehow shot down a helicopter.

I’m curious to know how the hell you shoot down a heli? Direct fire? Cluster? Pseudo-guided? (This ammo that falls down with a parachute and Scans for a tank) It would make a hell of a story…
A Paladin shooting down a Ka-52 has to be one for the record books.
Awesome!
Reminds me of the USS Barb, the submarine that sank a train. Not a typo. A train.
And also of the F-15E crew in 1991 that downed a moving Mi-24 helicopter in mid-air by literally dropping a 2000 lb (~907 kg) GBU-10 on top of it, scoring the only ever air-to-air kill of an airborne helicopter using a gravity bomb.
