Pressure on church to gift sites is wrong, says archbishop

  1. Raping children is also wrong and so according to your religion is hoarding wealth – it’s entirely possible this religion hasn’t understood the key messages of their basic text.

  2. How wrong is it on the catholic church’s wrong scale though?

10/10 Wrong – Loving someone of the same sex – go burn in hell wrong.

1/10 Wrong – systemic child sexual abuse cover up – mistakes were made, sorry about that wrong?

  3. The sole Defence the Church has left is property rights. And they intend to hold onto schools and hospitals through them. They know the game is up otherwise but they will cling in there hiding behind these rights. And FFG the great defenders of the right of institutional investors to own the country will never take them on.

If you want a secular state and health and education as a neutral space free from all religions, never vote FFG.

  4. The fucking priests just want to wear people out with bureaucracy. They’ve a lot of land and could actually help in many ways but they know they’ll get a premium for those lands.

It’s going to take a while but the church is on the way out thankfully

  5. He does have a fair point. The Catholic Church should have nothing to do with housing the most vulnerable in society. Their housing charities are as morally corrupt, as the church itself. With zero respect for the tenants or taxpayers money.

Like this Catholic Charity that evicted elderly tenants to redevelop a housing complex only to house students paying three and half times as much rent as old people.

    >In October 2018, the complex came to the council’s attention when it emerged Catholic Housing Aid Society (Chas) had begun renting the Berkeley Street flats to students, after asking elderly residents to move out so the building could be redeveloped. Students were charged €800 a month for the one-bedroom flats, almost 3½ times the social housing rent paid by the elderly residents living in the complex.

It is important to note this is the same Charity that a few years previously left a brand new apartment block for elderly residents empty for seven months as the rent’s were not high enough for them. The residents were only allowed single beds, as they didn’t want people sharing beds with the residents. Incase you are wondering, the scumbag charity hiked the rents the following year.

  6. Ehh no the systematic covering up of seal and physical abuse from an institution that has in no way even begun to deal with its sins is wrong. Also if the church doesn’t think that serial abuse is not still occurring outside of Ireland. Well I guess they don’t really understand how evil they are. Cunts in collars. Its a pity because there are good people in the church but most of them are leaving or have left due to this sort of hateful attitude.

  7. Did the church buy all these sites in the first place? In a lot of instances the church was gifted or bequeathed a huge amount of property often on the promise of indulgences!

  8. >The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin said it is “completely unacceptable” to pressure church organisations to gift sites and buildings into a “dysfunctional” housing system.

He’s not right, but he’s not wrong either.

  9. Another moron archbishop removed from the reality of Catholic history in Dublin. It’s quite an achievement.

  10. >The work of the church, he added, is “to achieve social justice, especially for the least well off and for our migrants. We will continue to seek an end to homelessness”.

    coulda fooled me.
