While I agree with the barristers here, anyone who has ever experienced crime in London and received a glib template reply from the Met stating that it is “not in the public interest” to use more police resources to further investigate, already knows that they do this literally all the fucking time.
Yeah thats great and all but what the fuck are they going to do about it? Arrest them?
They should mind, any cop who likes to pretend they aren’t just a thug for the government should arrest Dick and anyone else who is refusing to investigate crimes.
I doubt a single soul will step up though.
And yet if these same barristers were to represent any of the suspects of this lockdown breach the very first thing they’d be filing is a motion to dismiss on the grounds of disproportionate prosecution of a minor infraction over a year later.
Barristers can always be relied on to recommend any course of action that leads to the employment of a barrister.
Terrible individual by all accounts, the met isn’t endearing themselves to many people at the moment.
You don’t need a weatherman to tell you when it’s pissing down.
I see this grey lady in uniform, and every-time I do I say…they have this poor woman’s kid’s locked in a basement some where and they have her family basically at gun point controlling her actions….then I wake up drenched in sweat…and realise ohhh yeah that’s just Cressida Dick
Met are far too close to politics like Police Scotland. We had the old Chief Constable now down in the Met. Steve House write to a Sheriff to crtiisie the Sheriff sentencing comments. Said Sheriff alarmed handed this up and it went into the newspapers to send a message
‘Unlawful’ seems to be a word that gets banded around a lot by/at this government. As far as I can tell, it’s primarily used to describe something that we know is against the law, but they’re going to do fuck all about it?
News headline tomorrow: ‘Met police refuse to investigate themselves for being unlawful’
How many people from the met were at the party then if they’re refusing to look into it they must have been there
One rule for them another for us. I am so done with the bullshit.
Police have better things to do, like investigating hateful social media posts.
Never mind about a party- what about the billions in contracts and not the taxing billionaires and corporations?
A party is the very least of their crimes.
For my own understanding here, what laws did the christmas party attenders actually break?
I know there were fines handed out to members of the public. But what law was broken, or was it govt guidelines broken.
Certainly the no. 10 and other government attendees should be fined similarly. Or at least those that can be proven to have organised and attended these crowded gatherings.
Edit:- i googled it, numerous laws were passed and were in force between March 2020 and July 2021, when they were revoked on 19 July 2021.
The Christmas parties definitely broke some of those laws. Gatherings over 30 people were subject to higher fines.
Look, who’s gonna post pics of a small joint on Facebook if they busy themselves investigating illegal parties?!
Nothing to do with the officers that knew but kept quiet though? Makes you wonder if senior officers were there or had parties of their own.
Again they were too busy clamping down on the peasants.
When I look at Cressinda Dick I get the same feeling that I get when I see a newspaper that has been left out in the rain.
A dog that bites it’s master will be smacked on the nose and does not get any dinner. The met is the lap dog of this Tory government. How many multiple times have they turned a blind eye to their illegal activities? Sad to say it because I really am a fan of law and order and try to support the police, but this is just so blatant at this stage that it can no longer be endorsed.
I mean honestly. If they refuse to hold politicians accountable, average people will feel like they need to be the ones to do so instead and that never ends well. Erode faith in the institutions and don’t be surprised if people never go through them.
I think there is a six month cut off for investigating retrospectively petty offences so this will fall within that rule.
The met are as corrupt as this Tory government. Cressinda Dick Is letting this go as a favour for her not being sacked for years of misconduct and illegitimate activity.
Ohh no! What’s gonna happen now then??
Absolutely fuck all that’s what gonna happen
How on earth does Cressinda Dick have 2 public honours? What did she do to earn those? The Met have been a chaotic disaster for practically the entirety of her leadership. Those awards need stripping from her and given to someone who actually benefits our nation. What a farce
No shit.
“We don’t look into cases retrospectively” is a ridiculous statement from the police.
If they don’t look into cases retrospectively than that effectively means that all crime can’t be investigated, unless a police officer was present whilst the crime was being committed and we all know the chances of that are practically zero.
The police are in large part a reactionary force, they react to crimes *after* they have been committed. Utterly ridiculous.
I am glad people are starting to see through this bullshit
Let’s be honest, if they can successfully cover this up for a year and those involved aren’t particularly skilled then it makes you wonder what the British public will never find out about. What we don’t know could be terrifying.
I just can’t believe this, it’s so insane that they’re not doing their literal job, why do we have the police?!

Institutionally racist, institutionally corrupt, institutionally homophobic, institutionally incompetent.
