They did this in the UK with some forces. Best thing to do, you attract more people with a bit more life experience. Nothing wrong with young gardaí but people who have been in different careers or having families have a lot to offer to the role as well.
Makes sense. There are many 40 year olds taking care of themselves these days and in better health than a 30 year would have been back, say, thirty years ago.

I could see them getting many more recruits if they regionalised where they will be based. Going to templemore, then Dublin, then a random location won’t get anyone other than young single people. Anyone with a house and kids won’t uproot their life for it. Was fine in the days of single income houses when it was a vocation, but people need 2 incomes and don’t have flexibily to move as they used to.
