Dead and wounded turkeys found among living at farm linked to supermarkets

  1. The fact this comes as a surprise to anyone shocks me.

I think by now most people are aware of just how brutally awful farming is. And the only reason it still exists is because people are selfish and only care about “mmmm tasty dead animals”

  2. * We nutritionally have no reason to eat animals, a fact supported by the NHS and dietetic associations across the globe

    * Most of us are against other forms of animal cruelty, yet our actions lead to the death of billions of animals (trillions if you include fish) every year

    * Plant based food is very good these days, we can easily replicate flavours and textures of many animal based products, especially when you consider most of the flavour comes from cooking techniques/seasonings. Not to mention the delicious cooking you can do without trying to emulate animal products

    * Animals on factory farms endure horrendous things (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvtVkNofcq), and local farming, grass fed, etc, is actually worse for the environment, with animal suffering not even being 100% removed. Happy to provide sources.

    * So this comes down to us thinking its right to take the lives of sentient creatures who have no desire to die, all because we like the taste. How is this not animal cruelty?

I went vegan a year ago from being someone who consumed animal produce all the time (fast food, restaurants, home cooking). I regularly spent time with farm animals, found them to be interesting creatures full of character, yet didn’t see the hypocrisy until I looked into it.

I don’t miss any of it and it was incredibly easy.

  3. Your regular reminder that you can have animal agriculture, or you can have a world where animals don’t suffer unnecessarily, but you can’t have both.

  4. But but but, people always tell me that in the uk animal rights are so strong that even farmed animals have wonderful full lives before being killed for pleasure.

  5. If you don’t like the idea of animals dying, don’t support industries whose sole purpose is to kill animals. It’s not that hard to understand.
