Question is in the title. There are mass layoffs all around. Yet I’ve always heard that it is nearly impossible to get fired here. Workers have all the rights. How come?
For anyone not aware of any layoffs: go ahead and check [layoffs.fyi](https://layoffs.fyi) for the largest examples..

If there are genuine financial reasons to let someone go, a company is allowed to do so. It isn’t like the government is forcing businesses into bankruptcy. The protections exist to ensure things are fair and to regulate the process.
Edit: One of these protections is a notice period of 3 months. During that period, you can fight and claim you were unjustly fired. Sometimes companies offer severance pay in exchange for waiving your right to 3 months through a mutual agreement. That’s a complicated option though because accepting severance pay can block you from unemployment benefits (which you are otherwise entitled to)
Mass layoffs all allround? Do you have examples? Like yeah those happen from time to time it’s a market economy but it doesn’t seem particularly much right now.
Which massive layoffs?
I have not witnessed a single layoff anywhere in my circle. And it’s a decently big one.
