  1. My most hated Malta photo clichés series (3/5), guess what’s next on my list?

(#1 was pineapples on Comino, #2 that blue door in Mdina)

Pineapples on Comino and this Amorino icecream is called the “TikTok effect” (or Instagram effect). Tourists see their friends post these photos and then want to take the same photo themselves there.

In Amsterdam the Netherlands, the “TikTok effect” is taking a photo holding a cookie (Van Wonderen stroopwafel) or fries (by Fabel friet). It’s a weird phenomenon, that I hate :).

  2. The most photographed object is Triton Fountain.

Imagine 2 million tourists in Malta, about 90% will visit Valletta. They’ll all take a picture of the fountain.

  3. So I recently had Amorino, don’t get me wrong it was delicious, but every spoon was soured by the thought that I had paid 4.20 for a small cup of ice cream. If you want good ice-cream, go to Skutu’s truck parked on the belvedere between wied iz-zurrieq and hagar qim, great sift-serve, the best granita and now also making his own artigianale ice-cream which is just as good as any on these fancy shops.

Also how do you manage to eat from that cone in the video?

  4. When last time you asked what would be the next ones to come, I immediately thought about this one in Valletta 🙂

So let’s see… I have a picture like your first cliché (that was seven years ago, it was not a cliché back then!), and others I can think of are:

    * Girl standing in the Comino with Cominotto on the back
    * Sunset in Riviera, even better if the girl is holding / kissing / playing with the sunset.
    * The classic picture in Paceville at night, in the main road next to Plush (mentioning it for throwback Thursday 😉 ). I will disappointed if I do not get this!
    * Either the colorful balconies or Republic Street in Valletta, after the square, where it goes down
    * Blue Grotto from the top, something like [this one](https://www.weseektravel.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/blue-grotto-malta-1-2-768×512.jpg)
    * Sunset at Café del Mar

These are the top picks at a first thought 🙂

Edit: actually I found out that my old pic in Mdina was at another – similar, door! Phew, cliché avoided!
