Hello,
My grandmother passed away a number of years ago, and at the age of 20 she immigrated to the US from Germany at the end of WWII. She never spoke about her past, and my family found this letter that her father had written to her in 1943 (while he was imprisoned in a camp we believe). She was still living in Germany at the time. Unfortunately her father did not survive the war, and she was the only one left in her family and was able to come to America in 1946. There is so much we don’t know about her life, but we understand why she kept silent about it as I cannot imagine the trauma she lived with. This letter is one of the few documents that she kept her entire life to remember her family by, and it would mean so much to me and my family to have some help interpreting it. Thank you to anyone who has some time to help.
*I tried to post this in the German language Reddit group but they do not allow photos.
