Surprised to see from my hotel balcony an emtpy parking lot transforming into an outdoor casino at night. Got me curious to learn more – it’s’s my first time in Malta.

Probably not entirely for charity. Normally these are organised by the parish of the area. It might be a way to collect money for the church for upkeep and maintenance , and also to keep the elders busy. Some money might go for charity to specific families in the community. It’s quite common. We’re not talking thousands of euros here. Its more for the fun of it.
