Its really a feat of propaganda from the Brits that some many people are unaware of the true, dirty, deceitful, underhanded nature of the conflict.
Savage murder of a brilliant (and sharp dressed) lawyer who was beating the system at their own game. He vindicated the rights of the accused, stood up for the rule of law and won nearly every case in court. Too bad his clients were PIRA who were all compromised by the informants in their ranks but Finuncane didn’t deserve that nor did his family.
According to Seán O’Callaghan Finuncane was Army Council and that’s why he was targeted. Not sure to believe him or not, but his brothers were all volunteers. It’s clear British intelligence gave the UFF his details and probably ensured they’d not be intercepted.
Another solicitor, Rosemary Nelson, was assassinated near her home with quite a sophisticated car bomb in the 90s. An unknown loyalist group ‘Orange Volunteers’ claimed it. Rosemary came to prominence representing the local IRA commander and working with the Garvaghy Road residents during the Drumcree crisis. This was also a clear case of collusion. Plenty of Rosemary’s clients testified that the local police told them that they’d need a new lawyer since she’ll be killed soon.

Lots of people were killed in Northern Ireland.
The reason “it wont go away” is because it keeps getting promoted by Sinn Fein.
I hate to say it but I often feel propagandaed out by it .
