The EU has a cognitive split on the majority of its policies. This is hardly news.
The EU isn’t a country, kinda an important aspect to know if you are a diplomat. It makes building a one block coherent strategy way tougher than for an authoritarian one party dystopia.
I hope we can re-visit the TTIP and try to get an EU-US trade deal. Hopefully one with high food, environment and labor standards. We ought to try and increase the trade between Europe and NA so that we can become less reliant on China.
Yes, for example Portugal has always had a historic friendship with China. It would be hard to reconcile our diplomacy with the rest of the EU if they were to take a more agressive stance on China like most of this sub probably wants but cannot be.
It’s called Freedom of expression and we value it very much.
