Sam Newey was a British military volunteer who fought in Ukraine for 1.5 years. Unfortunately he was killed a few days ago. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Sam’s family has set up a fundraiser to assist with funeral costs. I was able to verify this was a real fundraiser through a mutual friend that knows his family and confirmed this fundraiser is legitimate.
Sam was also one of the volunteers we directly matched with donors through Protect a Volunteer. We have had a rough month at Protect a Volunteer as two of the volunteers we have sponsored have been killed and multiple other volunteers were wounded. However, that just confirms the importance of what we do and the importance of what donors are doing helping volunteers get the equipment they need.
