Obese patients treated on hospital ground floor because of fears of concrete collapse

  1. Given the weight of the equipment and building materials themselves, if obese patients are enough to tip the balance then surely the building is too unsafe to use regardless.

I’m not an architect though so feel free to correct me if this is wrong.

  2. This story started as a throwaway joke at after work drinks didn’t it

  3. So how is this supposed to work. Cant be a ward as they will have a stream of people in and out. If its a theatre then they are going to have to very carefully restrict the number of people who are in theatre at any time, what if there is an emergency? What if you want a consultant to have a look or need an extra nurse?

The idea that an 90kg person is safe on a floor but a 120kg person is unsafe smells like nonsense.

I am sure something is going on, just not quite what is being reported here.

  4. It’ll be a fun turn of events if Labour get to inherit a country that is literally crumbling and falling apart.

  5. I thought this was a car park concern?

Is it now just any and all structures?
