  5. I remember when a new estate was going up near where my in-laws live. It was around 2019, I worked Saturdays, and the office was near their gaff.

    They had viewings open one Saturday. And Jesus Christ, the queue of people wanting to view houses in an estate that wasn’t built to try and get their name on the list for housing that was going up and going to be expensive.

    It’s been going on for fucking years. Here was me driving into Dublin from our house. I’m Navan like “Jesus.” The queue was lined up from the entrance to the estate down the road and around the corner. Houses were all sold before anything was even built. And that’s how it goes all over the country. Nothing is getting better, just more expensive.

  9. This is my personal nightmare. I feel so lucky to have bought a new house during covid. We walked up to the show house there was barely anyone there and then we spoke to the agent and said we will take the second house. That was it, it was very simple. This on the other hand scares me

    The government genuinely does not care. We haven’t had 1 Simon Harris ‘everything will be ok children’ video and during Covid he was averaging 1 a week…

    Can’t wait til the election. Gonna just ragequit and vote SF.

  11. Are these British/Indians or are they coming directly from India? I’d imagine they come from mostly well off families and are here in well paid secure jobs or to go to college??

  13. What people need to remember is that the advertised price for a new build these days is essentially the opening bid price. I earned above average wages but being a single person it’s nearly impossible to get your own place in Ireland these days. Emigrated to the UK last year and seeing these scenes I doubt I’ll be back

  14. Sorry I don’t get this. Is this queue for BUYING the houses? At 400k-500k price range, even with mortgage and help to buy scheme? This long queue? Am I missing something or does HTB give you houses for free now or something???
