It’s a virus, and it never went away. What _did_ happen is that the successful strains started killing fewer people, which is basically what happened with influeza about a century ago. Nobody’s reporting a sudden spike in deaths, so panic and lockdowns probably won’t be required.
Basically – wear a mask before going out if you’re feeling under the weather, get vaccinated as appropriate, and wash your hands properly. It’s common decency not to spread any bug if you can help it.
I’d give it 5 years before yummy mummies start holding covid parties for their kids.
2.5 million out of work due to sickness/disability ties in with the figures reporting Long Covid symptoms too with ONS.
Numbers will keep going up and yet we’re still pushing people back to the office and removing masks in hospitals and pretending Covid is ‘over’.
The acute stage may not result in death as much as it did in 2020 (even though hospital figures are on the up AGAIN) but the long term effects of Covid infections have been well documented for a while now. You do not want to end up with Long Covid or MECFS.
Wear a damn mask in public places and stay home when sick.
