1. He‘s a policeman.

   Edit for clarification: „Freund und Helfer“ is a colloquial term for police. Kommissar is a commissioner.

3. The German saying is „Die Polizei – Dein Freund und Helfer“ which has the same meaning like „to serve and protect“ in the US.

   So yes, he might be a cop.
