There are enough non-Russian cybersecurity / anti-virus / anti-malware firms in the World that surely can release software to help counter many basic flaws in Android, Malwarebytes for one?
Let’s hope they are sympathetic to the Ukrainian fight.
I believe the malware is mainly focussed on the “Field tablets” that are used for targetting, navigation, etc. It’s a scary thought because having if the GPS data of those tablets gets shared it means positions of all Ukranian soldiers may be revealed.
That said, Russia was supposed to be able to take down the entire world’s network with their superior hacking skills and what they’ve resorted to is malware that may or may not infiltrate individual soldiers tablets.
So yea, this is risky and it needs to be adressed, but putting it in perspective – Russia’s cyber warfare game is really not what it was cracked up to be.
All Google has to do is push out an update to play protect’s definitions, play protect is their version of windows defender.
