That made me laugh so hard. Just more neo-fascist newspeak coming out of the Russian elites.
Russia has the purest form of democracy of “one man, one vote” and Putin is the man.
Well of course it has, in Russia…
Yes, we know, your country has absolutely no values or moral standards. It’s easy to attack others and blame them for hypocrisy when literally everything is allowed for you.
Why should we know about nonsenses this person told about? He knows about total deconstruction of democratic institutions in modern Russia and instead of discussing ways to fix it he tells ‘it is not our problem but global problem’. Bullshit. There is no fundamental problems with democracy on West. It occurs only in country where both population and elites agree to have kingdom instead of democracy. For other countries democracy has its previous canonical meaning.
Can’t wait for this shit country go belly up. One thing hasnt’t changed in Russia since Stalin, their economy goes hand in hand with the price of oil and that wont change with these corrupt fucks in charge. The demand for oil should plummet in 10-15 years and then Russia is no more.
End rant.
>Lavrov says term ‘democracy’ in ~~present~~ **his** world has lost its meaning
FTFY
It’s kinda true though. At the scale of the world, democracy is increasingly being used as word to describe european values and political models, as opposed to local or regional values and political models. The idea being pushed is that Europeans or North Americans promoting democracy elsewhere is just them trying to spread their hegemony and forcing other people to adopt their ways.
I’m not saying that it’s how this word should be used. Democracy should be the main way people avoid the horrors of autocratic regimes and anarchy. However, there’s a lot of people in countries like Russia or China who don’t think that democracy is the least damageable political regime – they think it’s a european model that wouldn’t work for them.
Of course for us on this subreddit, democracy means different things. But if you look in details, you’ll see that it also means very different things depending on who we ask. Some people will even claim that it represents their freedom to refuse vaccines and science altogether. Others will claim that it is the american way of life. Even others will put emphasis on human rights. And let’s be honest, in every elections we have people claiming that the people elected are violating democracy or aren’t legitimate. So I don’t think it’s inane to say that the word democracy is also losing meaning here.
I don’t consider any country a democracy unless they allow referendums like Switzerland.
