Hello everyone, I was just browsing Facebook Marketplace and saw this deal. Is it possible that this is a scam? I’m new to the used car scene in Germany so any help is appreciated!

  1. If the offer is to good to be truth, then it’s a scam. Why would anybody sell a car for 1/3 of its value?

And Facebook Marktplace is not really a good place for car selling / buying. But it’s a really good place for scammer.

  2. I am really not sure why the old wisdom of “if it sounds too good to be true, it likely isn’t” seems to be a foreign concept to many.
Anything is possible to be a scam. But if you got an offer that is less than 50% of what the average asking price tends to be… do you need to have that spelt out? It could also be stolen, or there is significant damage hidden somewhere etc. But common sense would tell you people don’t just randomly sell cars which are worth thousands or tens of thousands for a 50% loss for no reason.

  3. I guess its heavily damaged. Maybe water or something. Or just a scam

  4. the “seller” got back to me via Messenger and they don’t sound serious/have manners of an adult talking. I figured after having read all the comments from this post, that this must be a scam.. thank you everyone for helping me out!

  5. I was told that if you really want to annoy someone you place a listing for a very cheap BMW on eBay Kleinanzeigen and put their number in the listing. The person will get a lot of calls, depending on the price from a lot of foreigners who want to export the car (“Will isch kaufen Auto”, Haha funny funny). He also has no means of ending this because he can’t take down the listing / doesn’t know about it. This doesn’t seem to be such a listing though…

  6. Nah, pretty sure the seller is just a great guy who doesnt really need the money so he sells his pristine condition audi for cheap. /s
