Always remember that this requires unanimous support by all existing members and for instance the French constitution requires a referendum before accepting new members. This is just a step on a loooong way that might fall appart.
Honestly, I doubt that anything major that requires unanimity will happen.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is about Ukraine. While Ukraine at war even Turkey would be able to join in exchange of letting Sweden and Finland into NATO.
Everyone is so very smart, but in reality the EU works so well and for so long because of how it works. Don’t fix something that’s not broken
Being an EU member would mean immediate and complete protection from Russia as well as massive economic boons for all sides. Ukraine is an IT powerhouse. The sooner they become a member the better.
