Dear Belgians friends, hallo Vlamingen et bonjour aux Wallons.
I just found [an article about ” *rattachisme* “](https://www.marianne.net/agora/tribunes-libres/il-est-temps-dintegrer-la-wallonie-a-la-france#xtor=CS2-5) shared on r/France written in french by Jules Gheude, who seems to be an ideologic leader of this current. And honestly, I didn’t know that such a political current existed, this is why I wanted to talk about it with those who are truly concerned: you, Belgians folks.
The article I mentioned deals with economic issues, and few things about elections in 2024 that could lead to an impossibility for the King to form a government. It also deals with a potential Flemish independency, consequence of the lack of government, that could finally lead Wallonia to a forced independency as well. I’m not sure I understood everything.
I’m French, and I spent my whole childhood next to Lille, therefore Belgium, and I can’t imagine Walloons want to be french citizens. Beyond [Belgians jokes on French](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwyFxWKwkpY), I feel like there is no point for Walloons, or maybe I cannot see the point. I feel like there is no willing of politicians in France to annex Wallonia.
**What is your opinion about that? Does Walloons want to be french? Is there a risk in 2024 due to elections?**
Thanks for your answers and sorry for those who already are exhausted by this question.
I hope it’s not a duplicate thread, I saw a [sub published](https://www.reddit.com/r/belgium/comments/ukp7og/what_if_in_2024_wallonia_became_french/) a year ago and I wanted to have a fresh view.

Walloons and Flemmings have more in common then Flemmings and the Dutch or Walloons and the French.
Fuck no. What a stupid idea.
You want mustard in your mayonnaise?
You want to lose your identity?
And if we are forced to split and end up independent, why not stay independant? Why would we need the frenchies? why would it not be France attached to Wallonia?
France is just good to go on holidays and maybe bear with the French people for a little while and then being glad to come back home.
A very small percentage want it, like very small
