  1. We are making laughing gas illegal. Real laughing is already banned and now chemical laughing is also banned. – the Primeminister (probably)

  2. Imagine thinking this was some brilliant idea that’ll make a difference in a good way.

  3. Ah yes, because the war on drugs has worked so well for the past few decades.

  4. What they should be doing is imposing minimum sentences for people caught driving on NO2, five years seems fair.

Oh and a minimum of 10 days community service for dropping the canisters on the floor.

  5. What the Sky article fails to mention, but the BBC one does, is that medical experts have specifically warned against a ban because it could exacerbate health problems associated with its use.

So, the government being the government, I assume this is what sealed the deal and led them to say “oh, experts are saying this is a bad idea? Let’s definitely do it then.”

I think NOS is an utter waste of time, and those canister things annoy me. But banning it seems bizarre.

  6. This isn’t even a drug. It doesn’t have any affect on you or how you function or get you ‘high’. It is essentially just holding your breath for a few seconds and starving your brain of oxygen. God knows how the marketers have managed to convince people it actually is a drug.

The truth is the Tory’s are only banning it because they don’t like seeing the canisters on the street. The legislative time would be much better spent trying to do something about out of control cannabis and cocaine use.

EDIT: I meant ‘drug’ in a social sense. It doesn’t do anything. It isn’t fun, it doesn’t give any of the effects of any other popular drugs. Technically by the definitions in the pedantic comments chocolate is a drug in the sense that it ‘interacts with the neurotransmitters in your brain’ and doctors have seen fat people in their surgery before.

  7. Yay more performative politics. Completely pointless it will do nothing to stop use and just waste police time.

  8. I’m sure the police will be very interested in going after people on nitrous, what with their overabundance of officers and funding and all /s

  9. Does this mean there won’t be gas canisters fucking everywhere?

  10. Armed robbery caught live in air, more sewage pumped into rivers and seas illegally by companies, quick throw a headline out there. Pathetic party.
