  1. The good news is we’ve since had an update that the entire crew survived. The tank did it’s job – ensuring its crew live to fight another day despite assaulting what assuredly is the most heavily fortified European battlefield we’ve seen since the Second World War. Can’t ask for any more than that.

Reports also suggest that the assault it was a part of has been a success and the Ukrainians continue to make important gains around Robotyne/Verbove.

  2. I can see the Russia propagandists are already all over this on Twitter – with one outright saying that Western equipment superiority has been proven to be a lie.

Which is kinda funny when their evidence is a single destroyed tank in 8 months.

  3. We’ll just have to give them 1 more then!

Well done to the engineers who made a tank so sturdy that despite being the old model, only 1 was lost in 8 months of the heaviest fighting seen in Europe since WW2.

  4. It’s a high intensity war, no piece of equipment is invulnerable or wins the war alone. It was inevitable Challys would be lost, just like Leopards were.

The crew got out safely, that’s the important thing.

  5. I don’t think the Challengers given to Ukraine have Dorchester armour, in any event it’s done the task it was designed for and protected the crew.
