Hello everyone,
I travelled to Ghent/Belgium for the first time in July from Germany in a rented car(Sixt). Yesterday I got an email from Sixt that they’ll charge me 30€ as I’ve broken a law in Ghent by driving in LEZ without registering my car. In the email, attached was a letter sent to Sixt by ACCS International giving the details of the LEZ place(Graaf van Vlaanderenplein) I drove my rental car. They also mentioned that they have routed my address to authorities and I will need to pay a separate fine for breaking the law when I get the letter.
So it seems like I was stupid to not do any research before travelling to Ghent. I should’ve known about the registeration process. In my defence, I was just looking for a parking(this one : https://goo.gl/maps/5b6N9tjXd1Y5fVLL8) and missed a turn for which I had to go further to come back at same place to park.
Now the letter mentions that I should’ve registered my vehicle in [LEZ.gent](www.LEZ.gent). The letter also says that you can register it before 30 days of receiving the letter and pay some less fine. The letter is in Dutch and I’m still in process of decoding what exactly it means.
Does someone has any such similar experience? Any help on how to proceed would be really appreciated. Thank you.
