I feel like they made a huge effort to protect him and play it down when he was revealed as the BBC presenter, probably because of his high profile reporting of royal events that will be repeated over and over for decades. The establishment looking after one of their own, most people would have been thrown to the wolves.
I didn’t realise he wasn’t sacked, I suppose he didn’t do anything bad enough just embarrassing.
Is he still doing the thing celebrity’s do to avoid accountability and hide behind mental illness? Didn’t have anything wrong before.
I suspect that The Sun did Boris a solid for blowing up the Huw Edwards “story” into a massive media talking point when said Boris was being grilled about lying to parliament. The fact that it was a BBC presenter made it even better because Rupert Murdoch hates public broadcasting services, particularly the BBC.
The fella not being sacked yet is the funniest part of all of this. Any other line of work – employer finds out and immediately given two weeks’ notice. They take two weeks in holiday time and everybody then goes their separate ways.
Did he actually seek ‘assistance’ for the issues troubling him?
Mental health issues are not one’s problem, fair enough. But they are one’s responsibility to seek ‘help’ for and to follow the professional advice given.
Reminder that The Sun article claiming he was a nonce was shown as a lie.
If this happens it sets an awful precedent. Don’t see any benefit in publicly shaming people for having consensual relationships with those 18 and over.
The treatment this man received for doing absolutely nothing illegal is insane.
The only person he needs to apologise to is his wife, and that’s none of our business or the BBCs.
Let him come back. He’s a great presenter and did nothing illegal.
I mean… i’d say Fiona Bruce…. but then again she wouldn’t let anyone but the Conservatives get a word in sideways.
£440,000 just to talk at a camera. That’s why I don’t waste my money on the license fee.
