A lower-class immigrant of [Central](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Europe), [Eastern](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Europe), or [Southeastern European](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeastern_Europe) descent. Originally referred to those of [Bohemian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemia) (now Czech Republic) descent. It was commonly used toward [Central European](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visegr%C3%A1d_Group) immigrants during the early 20th century. Probably from Bohemian + a distortion of Hungarian.

Example of use:

American to the Bohemian laborer in the 1880s: You lazy bohunk! Go back to work.

  2. Not at all. I don’t recall anyone using it to offend, it was used between family/friends to screw with each other.

  5. Never heard this word. Closest to it i know is word pohůnek, which is old word. It means something like young helper (on the farm), but according to wiki can be used as curse word.
