Economist : Retired french people are the luckiest generation. They retired early, paid low contributions, and they have a higher income than french workers. Despite this, they argue lowering their pensions is unacceptable, younger people should work longer and pay more

Isn’t this basically boomers *anywhere* ?
Selfish boomers pt. 23!
Similar problem in the UK.
The pensioner population of the UK costs a fortune, whilst contributing little (and having contributed little throughout their working lives).
Not just that, but they’ll live longer than previous generations.
Retirement being set at 67 should be the norm.
It is exactly the same in Italy.
Though my father retired at 65 (the maximum retirement age at that time for public servants), he survived for 23 more years, cashing a pension which was a multiple or what his contributions would have justified. After his death, 66% of his pension is being paid to my mother, who, being a housewife for all her life, did not qualified for her own pension.
