Our local pub opposite the school introduced a parking charge, which you can use to get money off drinks/ food.
So essentially free for paying customers.
He could charge a small fee for short term parking, this would deter most and pay for his staff.
It says something about how ingrained our car culture is that pubs have car parks.
I can’t think of anywhere I go where it’s more important not to be driving home!
Lived on a school street and have been blocked in many-a-time.
It’s not that they don’t listen. They just don’t care and they don’t even need to – 9/10 nothing happens and they know it. There’s always a reason why it’s ok for *them*. “It’s only a minute.” “It’s the morning.” “It’s this.” “It’s that.”
Where’s the angry parent complaining that the pub have no right to do this, and that it will be impossible for their child to attend the school if it carries on?
I live about .2 of a mile from the local primary school. It’s a flat walk with no roads to cross, full pavement and lighting. It takes about 4min to walk, even for the tiniest of legs.
The family next door drive to that school. Every day, rain or shine, the get in their diesel x3 and drive to school, usually parking somewhere stupid.
As a parent I can say that parents are the worst single group of people.
