Some months after my landlord assured me it was absolutely safe to leave my bike locked outside the building where we live in, the bike was stolen. It’s not a big deal, it was old, rusty, squeaky and bent. Now I got a new one and I don’t want it to be stolen again, but my landlord won’t make me bring it inside, he says I’ll ruin the stairs walls (bullshit, it’s a light and small gravel bike, you’d be an idiot to do that). Everybody I know that has a bike does that, but their landlors don’t live in the same building. The picture is about a clause I have in the rent contract, it says you can’t bring stuff up to the stairs unless it’s a small box. To be honest when I signed that I was thinking about furniture or a washing machine, not about a 10kg gravel bike. Can he really force me to keep my bike outside? It seems like the clause in the contract misses some parts (?) but I’m not an expert of this kind of things, I’m just wondering if he can really do that to me cause I just want to avoid my bike to be stolen again. He already acted like an asshole multiple times since I live here, first trying to force me to get rid of my cat (I showed him the part of the contract that says pets allowed) and then, when he wanted to make me pay for the plumber, I had to ask my insurance to call him and explain to him that he pays and then if it’s my fault the insurance pays him back. Please help.

This seems like a clause for moving in/out. It speaks about moving stuff via lift/windows and not the stairs.
I feel like nothing about this would be enforceable in court, I don’t even think you can put in a contract what you can bring in and out and what not?
That being said, he lives there and can be an ass about it. Good reason not to live somewhere where landlord can keep watch.
solutions: Explain situation to landlord, pay a small sum for any ‘possible’ damages and say you will do your best not to scuff anything up. Make sure the sum you propose is less than solution 2.
solution 2: take out a insurance against bike theft. Also buy two locks and also uglify your bike.
