  1. [From the Government statement:](https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pm-announces-support-to-alleviate-global-impact-of-putins-weaponisation-of-ukrainian-grain)

    > We will use our intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to monitor Russian activity in the Black Sea, call out Russia if we see warning signs that they are preparing attacks on civilian shipping or infrastructure in the Black Sea, and attribute attacks to prevent false flag claims that seek to deflect blame from Russia.

    > As part of these surveillance operations, RAF aircraft are conducting flights over the area to deter Russia from carrying out illegal strikes against civilian vessels transporting grain.

In other words it’s the Rivet Joint flights – they’re not protecting ships, they’re just going to make sure Russia can’t deny that any attacks on ships were them.

  2. Really good to hear. This is how you deal with russia trying to blockade Ukraine shipping out grain to countries that need it.

I want to see more countries doing this on order to provide total security for civilian (and military) ships etc that travel too and from Ukraine.

  3. but intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance doesn’t mean they’d defend a ship if it were attacked? or did i miss that?

  4. When an entire country has to pick up the slack of one billionaire shitstain.
