I(M15) was at my parents friends summerhouse and me and my brother went out looking for salamanders. I lifted up a plastic chest and I found this teeny tiny little snake. I walked over to my dads friend and showed him and he asked me to slowly put it down. Turns out it was a “hugorm”, the only venomous snake in Denmark

  1. The size of a finger? I’d almost want to get bitten in hope of getting superpowers or perhaps immunity to future snake bites.

    Cool find, I’ve only seen the “snog” non dangerous snake.

  2. Awesome little find, quite common little snake. I think the biggest ive seen has been around 60cm on Bornholm.

    Took a bite as a young teen, got a swollen arm but it werent that bad.

  4. What a beautiful little buddy! They are a protected species in Denmark – you are not allowed to capture, move, or kill it. Basically, you can take pictures and that is it. If you haven’t already, send the little fella back to his buddies and know that you have seen something few people get to see in nature![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

  5. While they are technically venomous they have a very weak venom. Basically it’s only small children and the elderly that might be in trouble if they get bit; a normally healthy teen or adult is just gonna have a few sucky days.
