The EU in the future? What are your thoughts?

  1. Ukraine joining eu anytime soon is very unlikely

  2. I’m very sceptical to any of the current candidate members to have reached a state where they satisfy the membership requirements in the next decade.

It could happen but I’m not betting on it.

  3. There is no way in hell we’d ever adopt the euro. I say this as someone who thinks that we should

  4. Don’t think that Romania and Moldova will join anytime soon, also Serbia would probably be allowed to join only if Kosovo is independent and also joins the EU at the same time.

Edit: By “Romania and Moldova will join” I meant becoming one nation as shown on the map not joining the EU. I’m sorry, I should have phrased it better.

  5. The EU is very young and already failing on many many many fronts. As we all have seen currently you need to be a macho on the international stage in order to be perceived as a serious player. The European economy is in a clear downtrend and literal fascist parties are gaining support all across the continent due to “LOL protest votes LOL”. The question to be asked here is not what will the EU look like in 10-20 years but will it exist at all and this is a very serious question that many now do not dare to ask.

  6. That map highlights 2 of my favourite facts about the EU. France is the most western, southern and eastern country in the EU and the country that has the longest land border with the EU is Brazil.

  7. I think a separation will happen. Europe will split into a European core and a European periphery.

  8. If we are going to ride the horse of fantasy with the annexation of Ukraine or Serbia why not Norway or the reincorporation of the United Kingdom, we can even go further and dream of a stable Turkey and already going crazy, it seems more likely to me that between Morocco and all those mentioned above than Switzerland.

  9. I doubt Poland would adopt Euro. Same as Sweden and Romania, there’s no talks about it.

  10. It’s more likely that Russia becomes a democracy and joins than it is that all of the balkan join

  11. Only thing here is Ukraine will not join the next 100 years

  12. Adding the Balkans and Ukraine? LMAO

Btw, Spain looks very intact here. You’re the definition of optimism.

  13. No, I don’t think so…I think it will soon enough dissolve and the return of nation states will be the best news for all Europe.
Ukraine will lose basically the Russian controlled territory it has today, sad may claim it is sad, I’d just say it’s pragmatic.

  14. Very sceptical of the EU continuing to exist in its current “one size fits all”. I expect it to eventually split/divide into smaller more similar regions.

  15. You’re missing turkey and UK once they settle their shit.

  16. Hope the UK will be back again in the future. Maybe once the old part of the Tory party dies out and labour decides to take a risk for once.

  17. Why no Ceuta and Melilla? They are Spanish citys in Morooco and they have been like that for centurys

  18. Maybe remove Hungary. Their record on everything that involves being a civilized state is a joke.

  19. What country wouldn’t want to adopt the Euro and why?

  20. Let’s be realistic.

Ukraine is at least 3 decades away from joining the EU. It is by far the most corrupt country in Europe and has a lot of work to do and right now it does not seem to want to do some of that work, like criminalizing Bandera and prosecuting Azov battalion members.

A union between Moldova and Romania is impossible until Moldova joins the EU. Why? Because of Gagauzia and Transnistria. Those problems have to be solved first, and when those problems are solved Moldova will be fast-tracked for the EU.

Serbia will not join the EU within the next 50 years. Not because the EU does not want them but because they do not want to join the EU because they are at this moment a Russian puppet.

No idea what is going on with Kosovo there but it is impossible for Kosovo to join the EU as an independent nation. Why? Because multiple EU countries cannot recognize Kosovo and you have to be recognized by everyone to join.

Albania, Bosnia and Macedonia are 15-20 years away from joining unless they step up their game.

Montenegro is a Russian puppet like Serbia, they will never join unless something massive happens.

  21. Ukraine’s policies on ethnic minorities are incompatible with European values.

  22. I’d rather some countries were kicked out and no more join.
