” Thornton Greyhound Stadium in Kirkcaldy near Glasgow. ”
Kirkcaldy is 25 miles from Edinburgh, on the east coast, 65 miles from Glasgow and on the west coast. I don’t think that this article was particularly well researched.
So long as the greyhounds actually legit have a good standard of living I don’t really see what the issue is tbh.
Because they don’t have a good standard of living and it’s a fucking disgrace. What do I know obviously, only got an ex racing dog from the greyhound trust.
They’re thrown in a big room with hay, or a small room with hay, where they either sleep in a pile or a pair. They’re walked on a machine that takes them in circles like a donkey working a mill. They have no interaction with other breeds, no human interaction that would prepare them to live in our world.
They feed them slop, designed to fill them up for racing which is why they just have shitty wet diarrhea until you give them a good diet. No toys, nothing of their own, hence occasional possessive behaviour when you first get them.
A track in Scotland found cocaine traces in 100% of the dogs, and it’s still extremely common. Lots of tracks shut down since the old days but still somehow they persist.
Greys are calm placid sleepy dogs, and we treat them like garbage for a pretty penny. They’re an ancient breed largely unchanged for 2000+ years as the Romans had them and they practically look and act the same. They’re arguably the only dog mentioned in the Bible (hound of fleet foot). I cannot stand nor fathom greyhound racing nor its apologists. Do some research, have some empathy.
