İt has been a common theme in Eastern Mediterranean nationalist movements to claim ownership over Cyprus, if you leave out the obvious Greco-Turkish conflict of recent history, pan-arabism was very fixated on the idea, abdel Nasser in particular, egypt had a long history of looking at Cyprus with an intend of possesion atleast since Mehmet Ali(altough he was not an arab but an Albanian) it is natural for other pan-arab movements to claim Cyprus aswell, as Egypt was the cradle of that mind-sick ideology.

The SSNP is a laughingstock even in Lebanon, where their presence is what they consider “prominent”. Every year they put on their parade where they march down the street and the people openly mock them, I say this as a Lebanese.
They’re more of an ideological party rather than a believable “feet on the ground” movement. I wouldn’t worry about them at all.

They’re free to move back to Syria if they wanna turn this country in the third world hellhole they emigrated from.

Cyprus is a small island with limited resources and therefore it greatly relies on open commerce to supply us with goods and services that are not available domestically. However we do not have to import any nationalistic malarkey based on some skewed self-fellating idea of the past; we have an overabundance of that as it is.
These ideas live on the clouds. Unless you are Caesar or Alexander the Great 🤣
If we start making such hypothetical scenarios, then Cyprus would be much better suited to join the Insular Mediterranean Confederation along with large Mediterranean islands such as Crete, Rhodes, Malta, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and the Balearic Islands.
Some regions would be somewhat more developed than others with better economy and infrastructure but with the right policies this would be a prosperous and self sufficient insular state.
Funnily enough the SSNP was started by a Greek Orthodox Lebanese, so probably that connection is partly to do with the claim on Cyrpus
