Ukraine and Sweden will jointly produce the CV-90 IFVs with better all-terrain performance and reinforced multilayer armor, with a goal of arming Ukrainian forces with 1,000 vehicles, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar said today.

  1. This sounds like the CV-90 is the/a winner of the inofficial “who can build the best IFV” competition.

I know, I know, probably plenty of politics playing a role as well, but still a good sign for the CV-90 – if other IFVs were significantly better, this plan to build so many would not exist.

  2. More domestic production is important.

A major part of Putin’s plan is undermining Western support of Ukraine. The more Ukraine builds for themselves, the better. Ukraine is in a stronger position when Russian apologists abroad can’t threaten to cut off support.
