After the recent soaring temperatures, it may be worth giving your home heating oil tank a check for cracks or leaks as the high temps can cause the tanks to swell.

Got a fill of kerosene last week and noticed a smell of it outside this morning, low and behold; a crack with a steady little trickle coming out of it.

Advise from a local tank supplier was to rub a bar of soap into the crack to seal the leak, which worked (pictured), and luckily I had plastic sheeting in the shed, so have that thrown over to keep the rain off until he can come later to empty the tank and put in a new one.
