I can imagine my landlord licking his lips reading this headline.
I don’t understand how this can be possible, surely the rent you can achieve pushes up the price you’re willing to pay for the asset?
If rent rises 4 times as much as it is now there will probably be loads more people homeless. This is shocking, rent is already sky high at the minute. I’m not a renter myself and honestly, i feel for people who are paying extortionate money for properties.
I can’t see how that’s going to be achievable as private rents were already a crushing expense for so many. Looking at my old flat which went from £1200 in 2019 to £1800 now, an increase I’d have barely been able to cover before having children. Going to £2100 would be completely unaffordable
Don’t worry, 600 thousand people a year added to the uk population will definitely not have an impact on this.
Bring on the slums
Tents everywhere, with a sleeping bag and a coat hanger for your work uniform
Deaths by the thousands of starvation, summer heat stroke and winter frostbite
I’m reminded of why I have had to train myself to ignore articles like this (no offense intended to the user who submitted it!!) – suffice to say I’m not always good at avoiding them.
The housing element of my Universal Credit claim is already *checks figures* 32.8% less than the cost of my rent. Moving from a dilapidated flat, albeit in a reasonably quiet area, to the cheapest bedsit in the immediate area would reduce that deficit to around 28%.
My landlord had the fucking temerity after the latest inspection, to assert that it was my responsibility to keep the windows clean – this despite the fact that it’s a third floor flat and the window in question has an actual hole in the outside pane of glass.
At a certain point you almost have to stop being rational and level-headed and just say “fuck it” and bury your head in the proverbial sand.
These are just the ones we know about, imagine how many are under the wife’s name, or under a business name etc.
No MP from any party is going to bring in laws or regulation that hinders their income.
Landlords in being worthless, price-gouging parasites shocker
“You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy, we just need you to default on your mortgages hopefully these interest rates help you out, once we have an excess of homes available on the market at the same time we’ll buy them on the cheap then rent them to you at extortionate rates for the rest of your lives” – the hidden hand
Then rent control should be brought in to stop landlords from leeching from their tenants. The greed of landlords must be brought to an end.

Don’t expect anything to change…
[An analysis by FactCheck shows that 123 MPs earn extra money by renting out homes and private property. Landlord MPs account for almost a fifth of all MPs.](https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/almost-one-in-five-mps-are-landlords)
