So, my neighbour fell down the stairs AND he has been having some problems at work, so a week ago I told him I would bring him some food when I have time. So almost every night I have been cooking more for dinner, and bringing a portion to the neighbour.

Today he sent me this. I was appalled as I interpret it as “can you make this for me?”, but my boyfriend says he means “Would you like me to buy/make this for you if I have some money again?”.

What do guys think?

  1. I’d say it’s you who is right.

Maybe worth checking with the neighbor what he means. You’re not his food delivery service.

  2. I’m not quite sure what this has to do with German nationality, except maybe the dish, but without further context and what you write I think it’s supposed to be an invitation/reparation, but why don’t you write back? Just ask if it’s an invitation or a request.

  3. Please correct me if I’m wrong but the watermark on the picture means that he took the picture? In that case I’d interpret it as an invitation for you to eat that with him. Or is it a stock pic from the web? Then I might match your interpretation.

    It’s definitely ambiguous

  4. looks like he’s got used to the service and now is comfortable enough to place orders. better stop there. it’s not your job to feed him. helping is one thing but care taking is another.

  5. I think he’s kinda asking you to make that for him. I think the best thing to do is to play dumb and pretend that he’s offering to make that for you. Tell him you’re happy he’s decided to return the favor and to bring it to your door at some specific time.

  6. I just don’t get the „😘😘“ I wouldn’t like if a women would write with me like this while Im in a relationship. Except we are friends and I know this is supposed a joke. But a nearly stranger writing like this, no thanks.

  7. Just ask him what he means by this. God damn it, you asked your BF and reddit, but why not simple text back: “what is that supposed to mean?”..
