  1. pissing off iran with this move is a bigger deal thn russian opposition, bold move

  2. Note for Russia: If the Russian Federation intervened in the last problems with Azerbaijan, this would not have happened.

  3. > Olesya Vartanian, senior South Caucasus analyst at the nonprofit conflict prevention organization Crisis Group, told Reuters on September 6 that Armenia was sending a signal to Moscow that “your distraction and the fact that you are so inactive plays toward our enemy,” a reference to Azerbaijan.

Sums up the issue pretty well. Lavrov and Grigorian can cry and stomp their feet all they want, but if Russia doesn’t do its job as a peacekeeper someone else will step up to fill the position.

  4. Not relying on Russia is good, but I don’t think in the long term this could be beneficial. Europe and US just want to eliminate the Russian influence from Caucasus. They don’t really care what will happen in Artsakh or Armenia
