    The Marder is a formidable vehicle almost resembling a light tank, but armed with an externally mounted 20 mm cannon and coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun over a two-man turret. The hull superstructure armor is well sloped to add protection. This IFV was powered by an MTU MB 833 Ea-500 diesel engine, developing 600 hp.

  3. According to Rheinmetall‘s new press release, the German gov. placed an order (refurbishment) in August. On July 11, reuters reported that the German gov. announced to send 40 additional Marders (among other things).:

    >The package includes two Patriot launchers from Bundeswehr stock, 40 additional Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 25 additional 1 A5 main battle tanks, as well as five Bergepanzer 2 tanks, the ministry said.
