They can’t have it both ways. They can’t accuse us of being underdeveloped and then do stuff to us that causes underdevelopment. Especially since when we met the conditions for Schengen 12 years ago. We’re just failing the popularity contest at this point.
Good!
Let’s bring it on boys!
Our economy has suffered enough for the past 16+ years.
And not only our economy, but also many of us who had to wait for hours in queues at the border for getting in or out of the country.
I bet some were unfortunately enough to have lost their lives in road accidents because of getting extra tired with the delay instead of being already at their destination.
Romania considers that for almost a year now.
They’re all talk.
Sad, I really wanted to see how it turned out.
That again?
First of all, the article talks about „losses“ when it really is *lucrum cessans* at best.
Secondly, Ro seeks to be compensated for not entering Schengen since 2011.
Which means Ro would need to show that since 2011, there is legal grounds for such compensation. Good luck trying to that.
It‘s also telling that the instigator is quoted as seeking help from the commission to work out compensation. If there really was anything close to an actual legal claim and legal ground, the courts would be a much more efficient and authoritative and secure way to get compensation, wouldn’t they?
This posturing is becoming tiring at this point.
There is actually a good reason for denying Romania’s entrance in the Schengen area, and that is the systemic corruption that has grown even more in the past years. But the migrant issue is fictional.

Might as well find a way to pressure back.
