nah, they’ll GET them in 2025. they’ll start using them in 2050.
due to all the “failures” that prevent crimes being recorded.
Utterly useless, and I wouldn’t expect anything more by the government.
What’s the point in body cameras if the Gardai get to choose when they turn them on?
Why are we creating legislation to allow them to use facial recognition technology indiscriminately?
Security guards in The Square Tallaght have the cams – how is it another 2 years?
That’ll stop the scrotebags alright…
They’ll probably get a bunch of used 2010 GoPros from Cex
They’ll need to practice batoning people while the person is standing behind them, over the shoulder,
What’ll this realistically change? At present the Gardaí are doing catch and release by the courts.
The people committing these crimes don’t care, it doesn’t matter if they have 10 convictions or 100, they still get returned to the street because of the courts and lack of prison capacity.
Broadly in support of this so long as the gardaí retain a level of discretion when dealing with minor crimes and offenses.
You want accountability backed by evidence but policing in Ireland would take a dive if the gardaí had to formally cite / caution / arrest every single offense they see every day.
A young lad that is being obnoxious while drunk on a Saturday night often needs to be told to cop the fuck on as opposed to be arrested
What matter does it change if we haven’t enough prisons to accommodate the ongoing spat of scum
“Computer, enhance”
I’d imagine the footage would consist of tea making and watching crimes being committed while drinking tea.
HD footage of the lines being snorted in Store street jacks, followed by closeup of the Digestive going into the mug of tae
I’m sure this thread will totally be balanced and definitely won’t accuse Gardai of not wanting them despite being the main group calling for their introduction for nearly ten years.
