You mean the russian oblast from central europe wants to end the EU-accession talks with Turkey.
Just more leverage for Putin against Erdogan.
But I was certain that Austria and Ankara were the bestest of friedships. What happened? What has happened? What?
why should turkey be allowed in the EU? what a ridiculous idea. theyre occupying the land of a an EU member for fs sake and are bankrolling Azerbaijan’s campaign of terrorising Armenia. we do not need another hungary in the EU.
Well…Ok. It’s better than hoping a thing that will never happen anymore.
Also this action maybe save us from burden of refugees.
Definitely a Russian move. However Turkey has alot to fix in many areas and probably Eu will never accept us inside the union for different reasons but in my opinion this visa oppression applied by Eu to Turkish citizens must end. It is always helpful to discuss such issues as we will always have relations culturally or politically. It is pretty unfair for us.
With the war in Ukraine and the situation in Turkey being, well, what it is, this will not improve the situation neither for Eu, nor for Turkey.
I wonder what At gains from this game 🫠
Who wants a blackmailer and occupier in Europe? No need for another Dictatorship
I think we should never allow Turkey to join.
But ending the accession talks is dumb. It costs us very little to keep Turkey “on board”.
Silly, Turkey is never going to be admitted anyway; they’re even worse than Austria.
But in recognition to Turkey’s plight I propose renaming Austria to Austriye.
Another *sovereign* position by EU‘s top Russian proxy-state.
I mean, I rarely agree with him, but Turkey is bascially the same as Russia. So why should there be accession talks?
We don’t need a member that is so misaligned to the rest of the Union. It’s pulled so far from the Turkey of Ataturk, and their diplomacy is: let us get our way or we release uncontrolled flow of middle eastern migrants. Not a good fit for sure.
Why should Turkey participate in a hypocritical theatre of democracy involving murderous modern colonial states? Turkey has enough problems.
It’s not possible with Erdoğan. We need to do some revisions. We aren’t fit for Europe for now. We haven’t met EU standards for economy, law, democracy, etc. Maybe in the future when we got a leader that really cares about this country and not his pocket.
I appreciate Austria’s goodwill though. Majority of Turkish people and some European people believe that we have no chance at all even if we fulfill all the criteria. Their goodwill is important for the few pro-EU supporters left in this country.
Oh finally
Welp, Turks don’t want full membership either at this point. Many of us only care about a visa-free enterance to regular passports for 30-90 days.
But even that is in Erdoğan’s hands, some conditions in the EU deal has to be fulfilled by Turkey and when these conditions are done the EU can’t object. A silent visa-free enterance grant won’t create much of a political gain and the youth will just escape a lot easier.
