Ursuala vDL did not stand for election in the European elections, and was therefore not democratically elected, but was brought to power by the EU heads of state against the will of the people. She knows to whom she is beholden. The rest is just show.
She does more good for the EU than not. Full stop.
I do not think the EU is heading in a good direction. I don’t think the EU as a whole is doing even close to enough. I also think political correctness coupled with so much red tape is making the gap between US/EU wider and wider. It’s astonishing when you look at how much the US invest in research, how much FDI it has, how many of the largest global shifts the US is leading, the EU is reacting to. EU is in a constant “reacting” state to US/China instead of an absolute, de facto leader.
Now Germany is wanting to roll back red tape, after the Chancellor says the next few years will not be easy for Germans (economically). And even then, it will still have a lot of red tape. On top of that, protectionism laws masked as attacking big tech is having an astronomical response from Biden via the CHIPS act and RIA. EU cannot respond to that, period. Countries over the past months have made visits, trying to get their specific country in a better position but it doesn’t come for free.
EU needs to stand on its own two feet, it needs to become a great power the world marvels at. I assure you nobody in the world thinks “EU, wow so powerful!”
And the issue is when people bring this up there’s always whataboutism, deflection, etc. People cant say “yes, we need to do better. Full stop.”
Within the very restricted limits of her office, she is doing a good job.
She’s a hypocrite and evil for empowering one of the most brutal and corrupt dictator’s in Az.
