For those maybe unfamiliar with this case, £64 million worth of Client money has gone missing. Allegedly stolen by the now suspended owner.
Client Money will be items like money for house purchases or paying application fees at the court. It’s not the law firms money.
The rules should mean that 64p can’t disappear without someone noticing, so £64 million disappearing is unbelievable.
This is absolutely shocking. Was the SRA asleep at the wheel? They need to their house in order. This is infinitely more damaging to the reputation of the profession than a solicitor paying his own money to a client to cover up a loss.
