It’s great to see more rail services been added. But it’s ridiculous that the first train arriving into Kent Station is at 8:32. There should be rail services arriving at each major city and town at around 6am for people to commute to work.

Equally ridiculous that there’s no late trains out of Heuston for major events lately.
I work for IR, and afaik there wasn’t a single late train out of Heuston for any of the major concerts in the city this summer.
With hotel prices the way they are, the trains would have been sure to sell out.
The train service is great. But we need more late services. Even a late service that departs the capital at 11pm on each line. I primarily drove but is live for more of my taxes to go to improve rail.
We need better early morning, late evening and weekend services.
Public transport operates on the basis that nobody needs to be anywhere before midday on a Sunday
The other thing about the new schedule which the Examiner article mentions but this one doesn’t is that they’ll run a morning express service in 2hrs14, a few minutes faster than the current one (which is 2hrs19). Small, but still good to see. Getting closer to the old long term goal of under 2 hours.
