It’s a well paid job.
Is this actually happening?
Literally everyone in RTE needs their pay reviewed asap so they’re getting no more (or less) than the market rate for their services at the soonest opportunity.
If only it were possible to take stills from the filming of it.
Sadly such technology is probably decades if not centuries away.
I bet they are the nephew of the producer.
I hope the photographer themselves doesn’t get scapegoated over this.
This is the type of thing that has them going bankrupt. We make a big deal of how much Joe Duffy or Miriam O’Callaghan gets but the lower down staff getting paid a lot for very little that are probably costing millions more than they should.
Remember the RTE Secret Producer tweets? Set movers – who primarily work in the evenings because that is when most of the live shows are on – all get overtime pay for working past 5pm. So some of them get paid over 100k for moving sets.
If a camera operator needs an assistant to cable bash for them while the camera is handheld, the union insists on this being a fully qualified camera operator. A camera assistant is all that’s required but they still have to pay for two camera operators for a handheld shot.
RTE is bleeding money on all of these rank and file jobs. The show ponies are only part of the story.

Most here haven’t watched Fair City to notice, but the sound quality is dreadful, you can hear clicking noises sometimes! I’ve seen youtube videos filmed on phones that sound better. There are clearly a lot of people who are shit at their job getting paid a bomb

Again… bring Dee Forbes forward. Make an example out of her and previous Director Generals that were part of previous budgeting decisions. RTE has been led criminally blatantly for far too long.
